The facility is wheelchair accessible, with wide, paved trails meandering through an indoor pavilion that is home to more than free-flying 1,600 butterflies. Other exhibits include the Colorado Backyard and the Crawl-A-See-Em where you can hold Rosie, the resident tarantula.

Located in the heart of Denver, the Denver Botanic Gardens offers a variety of indoor and outdoor gardens and exhibits. From native plants and alpine gardens, to tropical plants found in the rainforest, there is something for every nature lover. Located in Hangar #1 of the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denver, CO, the Wings Over the Rockies museum has more than 182,000 square feet dedicated to iconic aircraft, space vehicles, and military artifacts. Seniors can enjoy aircrafts dating back to the Cold War, including the UH-1 Huey, F-4 Phantom, B-52 Stratofortress, and the EA-6B Prowler.

Boulder Creek Path

This paved trail runs right through the heart of Boulder. Pick up the 5.5-mile multi-use trail at the Boulder Public Library near Civic Area Park and enjoy a stroll along Boulder Creek. In the spring and summer you might catch tubers surfing the rapids. Stop for lunch on Pearl Street, just a couple of blocks from the path.

Located near Thornton, CO, bird watchers will love this 1.3-mile loop around Pelican Pond. The ADA-accessible trail has numerous benches for seniors to watch American White Pelicans, Cormorants, Mallards, and Goldeneye Ducks.
