How We Help Senior Veterans in the Hot Springs Area
What is the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network?
To ensure that veterans have access to high-quality care, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) runs a program called the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network. This paves the way for veterans to get health care, durable medical equipment, dental care, at-home assistance, and much more from local providers if they are unable to receive these services at their VA medical centers.
What Does It Mean to be Part of the Community Care Network?
Visiting Angels of Hot Springs is able to help aging veterans and their surviving spouses because we are part of the VA's Community Care Network. This also means that your local VA may assist you in arranging for an in-home consultation with our staff (although you are more than welcome to schedule an appointment with our team yourself). Also, we can assist you in submitting claims to the VA in order to offset the cost of our professional at-home assistance.
The VA has recognized us as a Community Care Network provider, which means we have fulfilled their quality and performance standards for providing in-home supportive services to veterans in Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village, Fountain Lake, and the surrounding areas.
What is Aid & Attendance?
If you or your spouse are veterans and require professional at-home assistance, you may be eligible for Aid & Attendance, a VA program that gives monthly payments in addition to the amount of a monthly pension. Surviving spouses must meet these requirements:
- Must be married and living with the veteran at the time of the veteran’s death and never remarried
- Must be married to the veteran for at least one year or had children with the veteran
