How to Use VA Benefits for Long-Term Care

Through the VA health benefits program, veterans receive a tailored medical benefits package that is meant to cover the cost for treatment for illness, injury, or even services that can improve functionality and quality of life. Benefits packages may also cover long-term care which includes nursing homes, assisted living, or even home health care. To qualify for long-term care services, veterans must meet these 3 requirements:

• Have an active VA Health Care Plan,
• Receive a referral from a VA health professional that the need for specific services will help with ongoing treatment or personal care needs
• And there is a VA Authorized Care provider near you
