Get to Know Janet, Our Caregiver of the Year Nominee
Janet confidently provides even the most sensitive caregiving tasks while maintaining our client’s dignity. She has enabled some of our clients to age in place for the rest of their lives as they wished! Granting this wish was made possible because of Janet’s superior caregiving qualities and compassionate heart. The families she has served are so grateful for her high quality care. They were so excited to give their testimonials enabling Janet to enter round two of the Visiting Angels caregiver competition. Clients with difficult behaviors can be a challenge even for the most experienced caregivers. Janet has the patience and skills needed to care for dementia clients and those suffering from anxiety or behavioral problems where extra skills are needed to get through a difficult time until medications begin to work. Janet’s loving, patient heart provides such a client the security needed to feel safe and cared for bringing peace in the home. This is such a comfort to families dealing with loved ones who have these conditions.
A unique part of Janet’s life experience stems from her life in Africa before moving to the US. In Africa she worked with wild animals, taming lions, crocodiles and other animals. She learned a lot about being a calming presence with the animals that has become part of her skill set. Janet has always had a special love for the elderly and thought about becoming a nurse.
Janet decided to become a caregiver, starting with Visiting Angels in 2009. She derives great pleasure and satisfaction from enabling elderly clients to live independently and comfortably at home with the help she provides. Caregiving is so much more than a job to Janet. It is her heart’s desire to bring peace of mind and security to our clients and their families who can rest knowing that their loved one is well cared for when they are under her care.
