While most people associate libraries with reading and books, there’s so much more public libraries have to offer. Libraries are a community providing residents with access to many services and materials that can truly enrich their lives.

Reed Memorial Library

Reed Memorial Library is the public library serving Ravenna. It is one of the highest-rated libraries in the nation and has more than 130,000 items, including books, magazines, movies, and games. The original Reed Memorial was built in 1924 and has since had three renovations to add additional space, the most recent of which was in 2006. The library also has dedicated spaces for kids, teens, and adults filled with books and other borrowable items.

Things To Borrow

Did you know there’s more to borrow from your library than just books? The Reed Memorial Library allows residents to borrow board games, cake pans, wifi hotspots, museum passes, traffic cone kits, movies, music, and kids’ learning toys. All you need to borrow these items is your library card, which is free for Ravenna residents. 

Many of these items are great to have on hand when visiting with grandchildren or loved ones. You can also use many of these items when spending time with your Visiting Angels caregiver. 

Services

The Reed Memorial Library also offers many wonderful services, such as 3D printing, faxing, and laminating. The library can also assist with voter registration year-round in the community information room and notarizing basic documents like wills and real estate transactions for free.

You can also visit the library for technology assistance, a popular service among older Ravenna residents. You can schedule a session with staff for help navigating software, apps, or devices like tablets, e-readers, and smartphones. 

Events

There’s an event at Reed Memorial Library nearly every day, and they’re not only book clubs (although there are plenty of those to join, too!). There are writing groups, crafts, local artist installations, donation drives, chess clubs, and more. Many of the events are free and open to all ages.
