Using Aid & Attendance Benefits

The monthly pension of seniors who are eligible for Aid & Attendance benefits is often supplemented with additional payments and given directly to them. Aid & Attendance benefits are available to veterans and their surviving spouses who satisfy the following criteria and need assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

• Have a non-service-related disability;
• Are bed-bound or have limited vision;

About the VA Community Care Network

That means we can provide assistance to you in paying the costs associated with these services. Do You Qualify for Veteran Care Benefits?

If you are a veteran or surviving spouse, you may qualify for veteran care benefits - either through the VA Community Care Network or the Aid & Attendance program. Here's how to learn if you qualify for these veteran benefits:

• Get in contact with a social worker or primary care physician via the VA to set up a Community Care Network Home Evaluation for an elderly relative or friend who may be eligible;


• A VA case manager will be assigned to do a Care Needs Evaluation by your loved one's primary care physician or social worker if they are eligible for Community Care Network services;


• If a case manager determines that your loved one requires professional at-home care services, they may refer Visiting Angels to you.
