Cindy Christensen, CDP: Franchise Owner/Director
Cindy has worked with seniors in a variety of ways for as long as she can remember. She was excited to have the opportunity to open this Visiting Angels Franchise with her husband, Buzz in 2013, helping ensure that seniors on the Eastern Shore are getting the care they need. She also became a champion for women in higher education as a PEO sister when she graduated from Salisbury University in 2008.
Journey Smith: Director of Business Development
Journey joined the Visiting Angels team in February of 2020 bringing her logistics experience and kind, calm spirit. Having already earned an Associates degree with a certificate in business management, Journey is active in many community organizations including the Salisbury and Ocean City Young Professionals, an ambassador for the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, a Volunteer for Unstoppable Joy, and a member of the Elks Lodge #817.
Jessica Brown: Bookkeeper
Jesse recently joined our Visiting Angels Team in June 2024. She has 10+ years of experience in the Hospitality Industry, as well as 5 years of Bookkeeping/Administrative. Jesse moved to the Eastern Shore back in 2014. She has an 8-year-old boy and 2 stepdaughters. When she’s not working, she’s creating new artwork, or spending quality time with her family.
Penny Smith: Recruitment and Retention Coordinator
Penny came to us with experience as a CNA and EMT. She became one of our angels in 2015 and after serving in the field, joined the office staff to put her 10 years of scheduling experience to use.
Sophia James: Administrative Assistant
Sophia is a graduate of Crisfield High School and holds a degree in Business Administration. She has over thirty-three years of experience as a CNA in hospital and home healthcare settings. She has been with Visiting Angels since 2021 as an administrative assistant. You can see her smiling face at the front desk in the Salisbury office.
Reverend Dr. Benita Harris, RN: Education Trainer
Benita has been an integral part of Visiting Angels since 2018, serving initially as the RN covering the Berlin area, and has since moved into the role of training new caregivers and doing skill assessments. She has achieved multiple degrees including a bachelor’s and master’s in nursing, a PhD in Human Development. She is also an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church and holds both a Master of Divinity and Master of Spiritual Formation and Spiritual Direction. Benita has served on mission trips to Haiti and Peru and enjoys serving others in our community and abroad.
Brooke Christensen: Community Liasion
A trained musician, Brooke has enjoyed getting to integrate her passions with her work at Visiting Angels from playing ukulele and singing to clients to starting a drum circle program that groups all over the Eastern Shore have enjoyed. Christine Nickerson, RN
Christine may be new to Visiting Angels but she has been in the Healthcare field for over 14 years! She graduated from Wor-Wic and specializes in Geriatrics and Wound Care. She enjoyed 5 years of Home Care before joining us in 2023. Prior to that, she worked for various Assisted Living Facilities in Salisbury. In her spare time, you can catch Christine on the Pickleball field or crafting at home.
Gabby Baker: Administrative Assistant

Chris Routzahn: Administrative Assistant
Raised in Easton, after graduation, Chris worked in a real estate office until she had her first child. Then did part time work until all of her children were out of the house. She managed JoAnn Fabrics for a few years, then Quilt Vine in Trappe, and in 2021 came to Visiting Angels. Now she is the proud grandmother of five super kids. Chris loves to read, sew, and garden when time allows.
LaShawn Dashields, RN
LaShawn started with Visiting Angels in 2020 as a caregiver before moving into the office to work as an RN a year later. She already had her nursing licenses and had been working for the hospital for 14 years at the time (NOW 17yrs.) as a cardiac tele nurse. LaShawn holds a BS in Biology from UMES, an ADN from Wor-Wic, and BSN from Wilmington University. When she is not working or teaching you can find her singing, crafting, or spending time with friends and family.

Stacy Thomas: Director of Operations
Roseann Aletu: Scheduler
Roseann enjoys spending time at all of her son's sports activities. She likes helping people, learning new things, and football. She has been married for 10 years and owns a taxi, shuttle, cleaning company, and several kiosks. She is very much a people person, and her best friend is 8 years old and calls her "mom". Roseann has been in home health care on and off since she was 20 years old.
Marge Steen, RN
Marge has been caring for the community in Worcester County for 30 years. Now she has put her love of people to good use with Visiting Angels to help seniors stay at home and be independent. When she is not working she enjoys everything outdoors, beach, boating, fishing, hunting, and gardening.Serving Salisbury, Ocean City, Berlin, Snow Hill, Pocomoke and the Surrounding Areas
