Local Farmington Hills Caregiver Named Finalist for National Award
Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, announces Gretchen Webb of Farmington Hills, Michigan, as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its prestigious National Caregiver of the Year award.
As a nun, Gretchen Webb of Visiting Angels Farmington Hills has dedicated her life to service through caregiving, social work, and caring for sisters in her religious community.
“Her extensive background allows her to not only serve her clients exceptionally but to teach us in the office how to improve our caregiving,” said Shelby Quinnette, owner of Visiting Angels Farmington Hills. “Time outside of the house is something we all need, and Gretchen makes the effort to do that with clients which is remarkable.”
Gretchen creates a supportive and encouraging environment that extends beyond physical care but allows her to connect emotionally with those she serves. She continuously steps in at a moment’s notice when there’s an emergency with a client.
“Gretchen is my wife’s and my lifeline; we don’t know what we would do without her,” said Tom, a client of Gretchen's. “She helps us with anything and everything, including helping me through my stroke recovery and moving my wife and me into the same facility.”
Visiting Angels’ National Caregiver of the Year Award celebrates the extraordinary contributions of caregivers who go above and beyond to provide care for their senior clients and their families. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the nationwide Visiting Angels franchise locations. The caregivers nominated embody Visiting Angels’ compassionate values and demonstrate excellence through the quality care they provide.
“Caring for our seniors demands not just skills but a heart filled with empathy, education, and positivity. Gretchen embodies all these virtues and more, remaining steadfast in her commitment to her clients,” said Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “Our 10 semi-finalists for the 2024 Caregiver of the Year award represent what Visiting Angels strives to be. Their dedication, compassion, and ability to provide hope in the most difficult situations embody the core values of our organization.”
Visiting Angels will announce the Caregiver of the Year winner at its annual conference in June. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize, and two finalists will each receive a check for $2,500.
