Leading Alzheimer’s Home Care Provider

Alzheimer's services

Visiting Angels is a trusted leader in Alzheimer’s home care. We are recognized for providing compassionate support to seniors facing Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss in Fayetteville and surrounding cities South of Atlanta. Families within our community appreciate the way we treat their loved ones and the professional care we provide.

Our owner, David McIver, founded Visiting Angels in Fayetteville, Georgia because of his own, personal experience caring for his father when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. David learned through his own struggles what your family will face when a loved one suffers from the cognitive impairment and memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s.

He also knows exactly what is needed for exceptional Alzheimer’s home care, and cultivated a team of professional caregivers that truly have a heart for the elderly.

Choosing an Alzheimer’s Care Agency

If you are considering Alzheimer’s care for a family member, we recommend a short set of screening questions to help you select the right home care agency.

First, does the agency offer specialized training for caregivers in Alzheimer’s and memory care?

Visiting Angels in Fayetteville stands out from other Alzheimer's home care agencies because of our exceptional training program. We believe when working with seniors who have Alzheimer’s, you should be equipped with specialized knowledge and a great deal of patience.

Our educational materials were designed with help from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, a leading authority on memory disorders. This specialized training helps our memory care professionals understand the best ways to work with their clients.

Second, what types of services can they provide to support daily needs and manage memory loss?

You will be pleasantly surprised at the variety of services offered by our Alzheimer's home care agency. Visiting Angels can assist your loved one with many aspects of daily living to preserve a reasonably good quality of life. Our elder care professionals can lend a hand with:

  • Bathing or showering
  • Dressing, grooming and hygiene care
  • Medication reminders
  • Dietary monitoring
  • Meal planning
  • Grocery shopping
  • Laundry
  • Vacuuming
  • Household organization
  • Walking
  • Toileting
  • Fluid intake monitoring

Our Alzheimer's care agency lets you dictate the services we provide so your loved one’s plan is designed around their needs.

Finally, do their scheduling options align with your family’s routines and care preferences?

Alzheimer’s and memory care from our agency is flexible enough to work with your schedule to support your loved one when they experience cognitive impairment and behavior changes. We won’t ask you to alter your routines or adjust your schedule on our behalf. If you need care in the morning, we will be there. If you need services overnight, we will be there. If you require around the clock live-in care, we will be there.

In fact, there is virtually no schedule we can’t accommodate.

Signs and Symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease

Mild symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease start slowly then gradually advance. Even the best of us have memory lapses at times (where did I put my keys?) Here are a few signs and symptoms marking the progression of Alzhiemer's to watch out for:

  • Memory loss that hinders your daily life
  • Difficulty solving problems
  • Unable to complete familiar tasks
  • Confusion about time or place
  • Trouble with spatial relations (patient may be more prone to risk of falls and injury as a result)
  • Problematic speaking or writing with words
  • Misplacing things
  • Decreased or poor judgment
  • Withdrawal from work or social activities

About Our Alzheimer's Care Professionals

It can bring some peace of mind to understand who exactly you’ve hired for Alzheimer's care. As stated above, our training materials were developed from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to help our memory care professionals understand how to care for and work with the special and evolving needs of our Alzheimer’s clients.

All of our caregivers undergo a rigorous background and criminal history check. We perform a multi-step interview process in order to select the care professionals who demonstrate that they are truly and honorably dedicated to the care of our seniors suffering from memory loss, cognitive impairment and other setbacks associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer’s Care FAQs

How to pay for Alzheimer’s care?

Before discussing payment, it’s important to understand what factors influence pricing of Alzheimer’s home care. Typically, the level of care required, where the home is located, and the frequency of visits will determine the cost of home care.

You pay for Alzheimer’s home care services privately (out-of-pocket) using standard payment methods like credit cards, debit cards, and personal checks.

Does Medicare cover Alzheimer’s care?

Visiting Angels does not accept Medicare or Medicaid. We accept private pay and long-term insurance. To find out if your long-term insurance policy covers Alzheimer’s care, contact your provider directly or call our office and we can try to help you determine which benefits apply.

How to transition Alzheimer patients into memory care?

Start gradually and bring on a caregiver from Visiting Angels. We provide in-home memory care during our regular visits that ease the transition and enable your loved one to stay in their own home. Our caregivers are training with the help of the Alzheimer’s Association’s material so that we understand the unique needs of Alzhiemer’s patients.

Does elder care cover Alzheimer’s care?

Well, yes and no. Elder care can cover Alzheimer’s care if it includes memory care. Each type of senior care is a little bit different but overlaps on tasks like daily assistance, monitoring the client’s safety and providing a bit of companionship. But, memory care is specific to Alzheimer’s patients. We’d focus on their routines and techniques we know to help reduce confusion and support their memory.

How far do your caregivers travel outside of Fayetteville?

Our Alzheimer’s caregivers travel to many neighborhoods South of Atlanta, including Newnan, McDonough, Stockbridge, Peachtree City, Senoia, Raymond, Hampton, and Woolsey.
