Karen Hurwitz - Owner

Karen opened her Visiting Angels franchise in 2009 with over 20 years business experience including sales of management solutions and flower shop owner. She brings extensive business skills along with her background in elementary and special education to her role as a Visiting Angels owner and director.

Karen creates a positive and effective working relationship with her caregivers and clients and is passionate and dedicated to ensuring quality home care and quality of life for her clients. When matching a caregiver to a client, Karen secures the best possible match knowing ultimately it’s the clients’ or family members’ choice. She wants to make sure all are comfortable with the caregiver and that a relationship is developed.

 

Abby Hurwitz - Director
Abby attended University of Vermont where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Upon graduating, she started working in loan servicing at People's United Bank, a division of M&T Bank. While working at the bank, she was also a committee member of the Women in Leadership and helped organize speaker events. 

Abby is a natural team player and networker. These skills were developed through competitive athletics, as a player, staff person, and coach. She is also an active volunteer in many parts of the community, such as the Special Olympics, and more recently, volunteering at the Senior Center of Arlington and Senior Center of Malden. 

Abby transitioned into her current position, Office Manager, after the bank merged with M&T bank - this presented the perfect opportunity to make a career pivot! Thus, the idea to work in the family business was born. Being a director has allowed her to utilize her prior work experience, easily connect with people as a technological native, and pursue her passion as a service-minded individual that deeply cares about people and her community. Karen and Abby’s combined skills and strengths complement each other by providing improved communication, personal care expertise, and a joint desire to advance our clients care services. Abby looks forward to a rewarding and successful future with Visiting Angels of Medford, MA.

 

Abby Devlin - Business Operations Manager

Abby serves as the Business Operations Manager at Visiting Angels, where she ensures seamless day-to-day operations and contributes to the company’s mission of providing compassionate, high-quality care. With a proven track record in management and organizational efficiency, Abby focuses on enhancing workflows, supporting staff, and upholding the high standards that Visiting Angels is known for.

A graduate of Saint Anselm College with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Cyber Criminology, Abby combines analytical skills with a passion for service. Her extensive experience in management and operations, along with a focus on fostering a supportive work environment, makes her a valuable asset to the Visiting Angels team. Abby eagerly anticipates a bright and impactful future with Visiting Angels of Medford, MA.
