Dementia Support Plymouth MI
Our caregivers have been working hard to become certified ‘Dementia Care Specialists’ in order to best serve the individual needs of each one of our clients. It is the hard work and dedication of all of our caregivers that allows Visiting Angels Plymouth to be able to help improve the quality of life for dementia sufferers and their families.
- Dementia, according to the World Health Organization, is a syndrome in which there is deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected from normal ageing
- Dementia can affect memory, comprehension, thinking, learning, language judgment, and orientation
- It affects nearly 36 million people worldwide
Through education and training, our caregivers learn to understand dementia and some of the obstacles that may go along with caring for somebody who has this chronic syndrome. To ensure that our clients receive the appropriate level of care and support they deserve, we provide our caregivers with fundamental training materials that include:
- A series of videos that help caregivers understand Dementia, their role with the client, how to communicate and interact, etc.
- Handouts
- Tests
Caregivers will receive a Certificate of Completion after successfully finishing their training. We believe that this type of training will help our caregivers to build and enhance their skills in working with clients who have specialized needs.
