No, we do not require a contract; only an agreement. Services can be stopped with a 7 day notice or sooner in case of an emergency situation. We also do not require a security deposit.

What type of screening do you require of your caregivers?

Our caregivers submit to an extensive criminal background check; including fingerprinting. We also carry liability and worker’s compensation insurance. We also require clean TB tests, annual screening, updated CPR and First Aid certifications, PCA (personal care assistant) or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certifications and annual customized skills and job-relevant educational training.

What is my exposure if I just hire a private caregiver or contractor?

Hiring a licensed and bonded agency like Visiting Angels provides you with the safest and highest quality choice in caring for you or your loved one. If you hire an caregiver individually, they are your employee and you are responsible for state, federal and individual liabilities. You have to manage their time and there is no support staff to provide backup coverage if they call out. As your employee, you must deduct federal and state income, Medicare, unemployment taxes and worker’s compensation. Once you discharge them, they can file for unemployment. You also have liability for injury and auto coverage either as primary or secondary.

How does home care differ from home health?

Home care is non-medical assistance with activities of daily living. Home care is primarily private pay unless the client has LTC (long term care insurance – we can handle all LTC filing) or Veteran’s benefits.
Home health is primarily assistance in the areas of physical therapy, occupational therapy or nursing services such as wound care. Home health is covered by Medicare and some private insurance. Home health is also only authorized for a limited amount of time and requires a doctor’s authorization.

Q. What kind of services do you provide?

A: Visiting Angels of Powder Springs provides a wide variety of companion care and personal care services. Through our athome care services, we help seniors age in place and maintain their independence. Our care services include light housekeeping, medication reminders, and grooming or bathing assistance.

Q: Do you provide your services in assisted living facilities?

Yes! Our family of professional and compassionate caregivers can help provide care within those facilities. Some people find out that the care provided by an assisted living facility doesn’t necessarily help their loved one maintain that independence. We can help make this possible and bridge that gap.

Q: What does the term “aging in place” mean?

A: “Aging in place” refers to the ability of a senior to live within an environment where they’re most comfortable. For example, their home or their loved one’s home. We can help your loved one accomplish this through our at home care services. “Aging in place” is the opposite of moving someone into an assisted living facility or a nursing home. Other times, it might mean the ability to stay within an assisted living facility, with extra help.

Q: Can I change the schedule if I have appointments to keep?

We allow schedule changes with as little as one week’s notice. We’re committed to making your loved one's schedule work around their life so they can get the care that they deserve. We’ll do as much as we can to make sure that your schedule works around their life.

Q: How quickly can our care services be provided/started?

A: Our care can generally be provided within a 48-hour period. Often, it can be provided on the same day.

Q: How do I start at home care services with Visiting Angels?

First, contact. We will provide a free, in-home assessment where you can ask any question you’d like and figure out if it’s the right fit. With your help, we’ll search for a caregiver that can provide care services that meets your loved one’s needs and wants. You will then have the opportunity to meet the caregiver and you’ll have the final say on the caregiver.
