Local Spokane Valley Caregiver Named Finalist for National Award
Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, announces Zola Gasper of Spokane Valley, Washington, as one of the 10 semi-finalists for its prestigious National Caregiver of the Year award.
With more than 40 years of caregiving experience, Zola Gasper joined Visiting Angels Spokane Valley seven years ago. Clients appreciate Zola’s outstanding communication skills, which keep them well-informed about their loved one’s care journey. Whether she's helping a client exercise, being the rock for some after the death of their significant other, or sticking by someone's side in the ER, Zola is all about making sure clients feel not just comfortable but confident in living their lives independently.

Zola played a significant role in one client’s recovery after a life-altering fall that led to a brain bleed. Zola then worked with the client’s care team to assist the client reacquire basic skills, from communication and using utensils to relearning how to walk. The client was out of a wheelchair and walking with a walker.
“From when she had her initial accident to where she is today, it's amazing how far she's come,” said Frank, a client’s family member. “We do attribute most of her growth and recovery to Zola, and we're very thankful for that.”
Visiting Angels’ National Caregiver of the Year Award celebrates the extraordinary contributions of caregivers who go above and beyond to provide care for their senior clients and their families. The semi-finalists were selected from entries throughout the nationwide Visiting Angels franchise locations. The caregivers nominated embody Visiting Angels’ compassionate values and demonstrate excellence through the quality care they provide.

Visiting Angels will announce the Caregiver of the Year winner at it's annual conference in June. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize, and two finalists will each receive a check for $2,500.
