Home Care for Veterans
Essential daily activities can become a heavy burden for older adults; Visiting Angels is a home care agency that is dedicated to helping seniors - including military veterans - remain independent and comfortable in their own homes.
Veterans in Tyler, TX can reach out to Visiting Angels for help. We work with VA benefits, which provide financial assistance to eligible veterans and surviving spouses who need in-home care services.
Through this program funded by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Visiting Angels professional caregivers offer a wide range of home care services. We help veterans of any age with activities of daily living, such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, using the phone, oral hygiene, personal care, and more. We offer skilled care for complex conditions such as Alzheimer's Disease, hospice care, palliative care, end of life care, and other levels of care as well. We also can provide respite care for family members who need a break.
The Homemaker/Home Health Aide benefit is a VA program that provides skilled care for veterans who have a clinical need that’s been identified by a VA physician, such as diabetes care, physical or occupational therapy, and more. Home health aides can attend to service-connected disabilities, as well as conditions that are not connected to military service.
How do I Qualify for FREE HOME CARE in Tyler, TX?
All veterans enrolled with the VA are eligible for VA home care benefits if they meet the following criteria:
- Any veteran who served in the active military, naval, or air service, as long as they were separated under any condition other than dishonorable.
- Former and current members of the Reserves or National Guard who were called to active duty (not for only training) by a federal order and completed the full period for which they were called or ordered to active duty.
Income is not a factor for some programs, and the veteran’s disability does not need to be service related.
Tyler’s Veteran Care Community
In Tyler we love partnering with our friends at Dallas Vet Center, Tyler VA Regional Benefit Office, VA Website for HHA and many others as we provide excellent veteran services.
Available programs include:
Aid and Attendance Benefit
This benefit is for individuals who are partially or completely blind, are bedridden, need help with activities of daily living, or live in a nursing home. Veterans may also be eligible for “Housebound” benefits if they are homebound due to a permanent disability. These benefits are typically paid as an add-on to the veteran’s regular VA pension.
Community Care Network
The Community Care Network has benefits that are managed by a service care coordinator. The coordinator will manage the case, deciding how much care is needed and helping you and your family to find local caregivers. Community Care Network benefits are paid directly to care providers.
Homemaker/Home Health Aide
The H/HHA program is meant for enrolled veterans who have a medical need for in-home care. Eligibility requires that a VA physician determine that the veteran requires skilled care services, such as medication management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or other medical care.
These benefits are here to help veterans age with dignity and self-determination.
Visiting Angels can help determine if you qualify, assist with the complex application process, and provide care.
Because the application process and wait times can be very extended, it’s best to apply for benefits before they are needed. We’d love to help you access these important programs.
Customer Review
I have been very pleased with the two Visiting Angels who have been caring for my father at night. They are dependable, professional, caring, compassionate, and patient. I am able to leave him and know he is in good hands.
