How to Select Your Senior Caregiver
Visiting Angels uses a process called Select Your Caregiver® to match seniors with a caregiver who fits their needs, personality, and daily routine. During our initial free consultation, a care manager takes some time to listen to you, understand you or your aging relative’s typical day and their personality traits. With all of this information, we match a caregiver who we believe has the potential to develop a strong connection to the senior.
When you invite a senior caregiver into the home, the caregiver will do much more than help an elderly person with the activities of daily living (ADLs). Senior caregivers also provide heartful companionship, emotional support during difficult times, and plenty of encouragement to help older adults keep their independence to age in place from the comfort of home.
Responsibilities of a Senior Caregiver
Senior caregivers at Visiting Angels provide non-medical senior care to improve seniors’ quality of life, and the lives of their family members. Our responsibilities range from meaningful conversations, doing hobbies together like puzzles, arts and crafts, assist with personal grooming and dressing, cook or reheat nutritious meals, take seniors to medical appointments or outings, and prevent the risk of falls with mobility support. Household tasks such as light cleaning and medication reminders are also part of our job.
