Respite Care
I personally know what it is like to take care my loved ones that are aging. My family moved my grandparents up from Florida as they both needed full time care. What a juggling act of trying to meet their needs, keep working and taking care of my own family which included 6 children. There was a time where I felt I could not handle it all and that is where Visiting Angels filled the gap of need for us personally. This was about 12 years ago and what an impact those special Angels had on my whole family.
Let us meet the need you have. Each family is unique and that is why we first find out what the need is and how we can help. Filling the gap of care for seniors and families is our mission and we consider it a special privilege to be able to do that.
Respite care from your local Visiting Angels agency can help when you need it and take the some of the stress away that goes along with taking care of seniors.
What is Respite Care?
Respite care is care that occurs for short time periods. This care can fill that gap while families are working or their personal tasks. Respite care can also fill the need when families have to go out of town. Flexibility is the biggest benefit. Our caregivers can come for as little as 4 hours a day, couple days a week or even longer depending what the need is.
Think of the peace of mind you and your family will have knowing an experienced Angel is giving compassionate care and filling the gap of need.
Respite Care Services
We offer quite a few in-home respite services. Here are some of the services we can provide:
- Daily activities such as dressing, bathing and grooming
- Meal preparation
- Medication reminders
- Light housekeeping
- Companionship
What Is Caregiver Burnout?
Caregiver burnout or compassion fatigue is real and if you have been providing care for your senior loved ones you may have felt this. Merriam-Webster's definition for compassion fatigue is "the physical and mental exhaustion and emotional withdrawal experienced by those that care for sick or traumatised people of an extended period of time." Some of the symptoms that might indicate you are experiencing this burnout are irritability, increase of stress, difficulty sleeping, lack of motivation, resentment toward your caregiver duties and withdrawing from people or enjoyable activities.
Respite care can help prevent burnout and fill the gap of care you and your family need. Let us make the overwhelming manageable again. We can reduce your workload and make life liveable again.
