About Visiting Angels of Matawan, NJ
Your Local Home Care Agency for Monmouth and Middlesex Counties
Visiting Angels has been providing compassionate senior care to families across the United States since 1998. The Visiting Angels of Matawan location has been serving the Monmouth and Middlesex Counties of New Jersey since 2004. Our commitment to you is simple: We’ll help your loved one continue to live at home, and we’ll help you find peace of mind.
Visiting Angels of Matawan is a family owned and operated business. The McAloon brothers, Tim & Dan, have joyfully run the Matawan location since 2018. They left careers on Wall Street with a mission to serve others in their community. They hail from a family of public servants, including three generations of New York City Police Detectives, along with Teachers and Registered Nurses. They were informed and inspired about Homecare thanks to their experiences with family members. Their grandparents lived long lives and needed daily care into their late 90s. Unfortunately, they have also seen the other side of homecare. Tim & Dan’s mother died of cancer far too you, requiring hands-on assistance from family and Hospice services near the end of her life. Homecare services were not readily available at the time, and they witnessed the difficulties and emotional strain those experiences took on their family. As a result, considering a second career helping seniors became a very easy decision.
A Name You Can Trust in Home Care
Owners Tim and Dan could have chosen to work with any national Homecare franchise system. They did all the due diligence one would expect when considering such a big decision. What they learned is that Visiting Angels is indeed the most trusted name in Homecare. The support system of Visiting Angels Corporate (the franchisor) is superior to any homecare franchise system they encountered. They were also relieved to discover that their in-person due diligence meetings with Visiting Angels senior executives focused on the most important factor – the Client. The training they received in 2018 focused on how best to serve others, rather than how to turn a quick profit. Those experiences, along with their own natural compassion, created a match made in heaven.
Choose Visiting Angels of Matawan - The Differentiating Factor!
As a client of Visiting Angels of Matawan, you’ll interact directly with our owner/operator, Tim McAloon. This is not true of most Homecare companies. At Visiting Angels of Matawan, we have chosen to not have a call screening or answering service. There is no off-hours switchboard. For us and our clients, Home care is too personal and important for that. The reality for our clients is that health issues or emergencies, sudden schedule changes, and circumstances that need immediate attention, can happen at any time – not just on weekdays between the hours of 9 and 5. Peace of mind for family members is among our biggest priorities. To this end, Visiting Angels of Matawan clients have Tim’s personal cell number and know they can get in direct contact with a company owner whenever a need arises. Our clients find this to be very comforting. Visiting Angels of Matawan also has a close-knit and very dedicated office staff. Family members are on a first-name basis with our office personnel and receive fast, efficient service whenever they call. These extra efforts are what differentiate Visiting Angels from your other choices. Call and we can discuss these promises more!
Homecare Needs Come in Many Shapes & Forms – We Are Here For You
Scheduling Flexibility. Visiting Angels of Matawan offers its services on a temporary or permanent basis. Our dedicated Angels are available 24 hours a day, either for hourly shifts or 24/7 live-in care. We also offer evening “Angel Visits”. These visits are 1 hour long, act as a safe, client “tuck-in”, and often help a client’s budget concerns.
We regularly work with clients who have had a hospital or rehab stay and are recovering from injury, illness, or elective surgery – and have a goal of gradually returning to full independence. These clients often start with more care and reduce their schedules as needed. The client, their Angel Caregiver, and the Visiting Angels assigned Nurse Supervisor will coordinate to determine the best, safest approach.
Conversely, we also serve clients with declining physical or cognitive health, by gradually increasing care over time as needs change and feedback from the home/family call for change.
Dementia care and Alzheimer’s care are integral to our work. These challenges are faced by many of our clients, and we offer special training to our caregivers to assure the best results.
Communication with Family. Visiting Angels homecare involves personal engagement and friendly companionship, along with comprehensive communication with family members. We want your loved one to live with dignity and happiness in the comforts of home, joyfully anticipating another visit from their Visiting Angel. As a Visiting Angels client, you will come to expect excellent communication regarding the ongoing care and status of your loved one. Decisions on the most efficient schedule over time will be made easier because of the excellent communication we require from our excellent caregivers and Nurses.
What Should You Expect From Your Visiting Angel?
While in a client's home, our dedicated Angels are responsible for a client’s safety, hygiene & nutrition – and so much more! Our goal is to customize the work we do, to meet the specific needs of each client. We work closely with family members and their representatives to design the most appropriate schedule of care, and we assign Caregivers based on the needs of the client, the schedule desired by the client/family, and the skills and experience of the Caregiver.
One of the many benefits of the service we provide is to reduce the workload for family members and other primary caregivers. Our experienced Angels confidently take charge of care, allowing family members to return to their personal schedules, with the assurance that their loved one is receiving excellent care and companionship.
Client needs may vary, but the work an Angel Caregiver undertakes generally includes:
- Personal Care such as bathing (all hygiene and grooming), dressing, toileting, incontinence care, oral care etc.
- Safety with movement, bathing (and transfers as needed), assistance with exercise, taking walks etc.
- Activities of Life such as transportation to appointments (in the client’s vehicle), shopping and errands, visits with friends, assistance with light housekeeping, laundry, and bedlinen changes. Favorite activities and routines are part of each visit.
- Nutrition assistance through food shopping, meal preparation, feeding and cleanup. Special diets and dietary limitations are common among our clients (e.g. diabetic diets; need for pureed foods etc.) Medication reminders are essential as well.
