How to Get Started with In-Home Care in the Matawan Area

Provider of in-home care in Matawan with elderly patient

We know you are bound to have many questions when it comes to getting started with home care and we are happy to answer them.

What is home care and who might need it?

Through Visiting Angels of Matawan, home care is simple: it is a professional service that assists a person to safely remain living at home. There are varying reasons a person may need home care, ranging from a general worry about safety or a need for companionship to dealing with serious physical or cognitive limitations. No prescription from a doctor is needed to receive home care services. If you have concerns about a loved one’s ability to remain living in the home they love, it may be sensible to investigate home care further. We are here to answer all your questions.

See our Home Care Services page for more details on the depth of services that can be provided in a home care setting.

To speak directly with the owner of Visiting Angels of Matawan or one of our dedicated staff, call us directly at 732-671-2899.

Or if you would like to share some information and be contacted at a later time, submit a call-back request.

What is the process for getting started with home care?

When you contact Visiting Angels of Matawan, your process of learning about and implementing Home Care will be simple, thorough, and professional. It begins with a phone conversation with Tim McAloon, owner of Visiting Angels of Matawan, or one of our skilled professional staff members. The discussion is targeted at answering all your family’s questions, while learning as much as possible about the details of care your family is hoping to receive.

Some of the things we will talk about during your initial consultation include:

  • The particulars of your loved one's condition, including their physical and/or cognitive challenges and dietary restrictions
  • Your goals and expectations for their care, including a discussion of any concerns you have about their personal care, safety, and assistance needs with hygiene
  • What other kind of help they need at home, including light housework, transportation, shopping and medication reminders
  • You can expect an open discussion about the possible scheduling options that may fit your family’s needs. We offer shiftwork options, day and night, along with evening "Angel Visits" which are 1 hour long and act as a safe, client "tuck-in". 24/7 live/in care is a common request also.
  • Any questions you may have about our home care service, our caregivers, or our agency policies will be answered
  • You can expect full disclosure regarding all costs associated with Home Care through Visiting Angels of Matawan.

When a decision to move forward with home care through Visiting Angels of Matawan is made, a Registered Nurse Supervisor will conduct an initial assessment in the presence of both family/representative and the assigned Visiting Angels Caregiver, assuring that all parties are on the same page, in terms of needs and expectations. Care needs and caregiver responsibilities are all documented by the Nurse Supervisor in a Care Plan, and the details of care remain in the home.

What can I expect when I use home care from Visiting Angels of Matawan?

Licensed caregiving professionals

Your Caregiver will adhere to an agreed-upon weekly schedule, performing and documenting all the assigned tasks in the Care Plan. All Visiting Angels of Matawan employees are New Jersey licensed CHHA’s. The assignment of a CHHA is a State regulatory requirement for any client who will need any hands-on assistance (“touching”) at all. Beware of home care agencies who say they are sending you a “companion”. These people are not licensed for in-home care.

Flexible scheduling

The schedule of caregiver weekly visits will be discussed prior to the start and are meant to fit your needs. Our care schedule is flexible and as needs change, your schedule needs may change too. A request for a schedule change, or additional help that may be “off-schedule”, is just a phone call away.

Care tailored to your needs and budget

The cost of home care services will be provided in writing and clearly explained prior to the start of care. Our clients are billed weekly, looking back at the prior week’s schedule. Care can end whenever a family decides, with a phone call and very little notice required. This is a worry-free promise to clients.

Frequent, responsive communication

As a client of Visiting Angels of Matawan, you can expect frequent contact from the Visiting Angels of Matawan staff, who will request your feedback on our work and will offer updates. You will also be in contact with the owner, Tim McAloon, throughout your time as a client. Tim meets with all clients and is very accountable to the families we serve.

We welcome you to give us a call to learn more. We look forward to serving you and your family!
