About Visiting Angels
A Legacy of Kindness, Caring and Compassion
In 1978 my mother Barbara J., became a widow tasked with raising me at 16 alone, without my father, or a job as he was the main breadwinner. She had GRIT and would never lose their home they worked so hard to pay off. I began working part time while going to school because I knew never to ask her for money. She began working and saving. “Tricia, always put a portion of your money in the bank—you never know when the rainy day is coming.”
The rainy day came many years later when I went for a visit to her home in August of 2002. Something was very wrong. The check book which was always balanced to the penny was incorrect. Pills, not taken, tucked all over the house. Projects started and unfinished, spoiled food, and she was very cranky. A trip to the Doctor’s office where she was the office manager for years was set. My brother, sister, and I all went together as she refused to go. So independent all of these years and who were we to question her finances or how she lived?
Alzheimer's took my mother's vitality and stripped away her life.
Because she was very prudent with her money; my brother, sister, and I were able to keep her at home where was familiar with her surroundings. We hired a team of competent caregivers who were Reliable, Resourceful and Respectful. All traits we expect for our team of Angels. Every time we start a case—I see my mother and trust my team of Angels will care for you or your loved one as if it was their own family member too. This is the reason I chose to start a Visiting Angels in her honor in 2011. I was prepared from all of the tasks I learned to do caring for my mother and her finances. I gave you a small glimpse of my family history and truly wish to make a difference in yours.
