About Us | Visiting Angels Southwest Michigan
At Visiting Angels ® of Southwest Michigan, we’re a family–literally. Denny Stults is a retiree of Kellogg that wanted to do more for his community in his retirement. In 2017, he found the opportunity in Visiting Angels to make a difference in the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors in Allegan, Kalamazoo, Mattawan, Paw Paw, Plainwell, Portage and surrounding Southwest Michigan areas. It wasn’t long before his daughter, Ellen Kluck, joined the team and transitioned co-owner.
Together, Denny and Ellen worked side-by-side not only building a business but also providing hands-on caregiving to seniors in our community. They are the embodiment of our Heart for Caregiving and our guiding light in compassionate, respectful, and expert at home care.
We are a family that knows that every individual is someone’s father, mother, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, or uncle. And that there is no place like home for them.
Our purpose is to be your partner for independence, safety, and comfort.
“From day one, we had a care guarantee: if we have a visit scheduled, then we will provide care. If we can’t find another angel, then we will go ourselves. This has allowed us to build an organization where our main focus is to be Caregiver centric, as we know what it’s like to be in the field providing care.” – Ellen Kluck, Owner
The Family Values of Our Southwest Michigan Care Team
The following values guide the work that we do with our clients as well as how we function together as a Care Team:
- Be a Connector. We create relationships with all those we encounter.
- Live Responsibly. We show up on time, adapt to complete care plans, report results, and do the right thing.
- Heart for Caregiving. We were born to take care of others.
- Honesty in Everything. If in doubt, we ask.
- Bring Value. We make our clients, our community, and ourselves stronger.
Familiar Face Guarantee for Companions, Caregivers, and Respite Care
Ellen and Denny know first hand the importance of intentional matching of Care Team members with your loved ones, and have established it as a guiding value to our work. We thoughtfully match caregivers and clients to establish a foundation for a strong, supportive, and consistent relationship. Guaranteeing a familiar face is especially crucial for our senior care companions struggling with Dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Familiar faces are at the heart of trustworthy respite care. Ellen and Denny believe that care for your loved ones should feel like an extension of your own, providing peace of mind that they’re with someone who truly cares. We want you to rest easy, knowing your loved ones are in warm, capable hands.
We also prioritize the success and impact of our Care Team Members. Trust and companionship flow both ways, also enriching our caregivers while fostering growth. When you join the Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan Care Team, you join another family.
“This company is not like others. You get the ability to choose your caregiver. They also have advanced technology to be those eyes and ears when you can't be. They truly care for your loved ones like they were their own family. Always a top recommendation for sure!” –Andrea Pawson, Feb 2024
A Transition From Women-Led to Women-Owned
Ellen has long been the leader of Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan. Denny recognized early that his passion is relationship building and was excited to have a daughter with the passion and talents for leading the teams. A co-owner since 2023, Ellen has a remarkable ability to connect the dots, weaving together our values, purpose, people, and community into a unified vision and services that deliver the at home care our community deserves.
In the Fall of 2024, Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan entered a new chapter as a majority women-owned business. Ellen continues the legacy that she and Denny have built as Southwest Michigan’s partner in independence, safety, and comfort for at home care.
Denny continues to support our team, but gets to do so while enjoying more of his retirement! His heart for caregiving and passion for making connections means he’s often still answering phones or out visiting clients.
