Palliative Care Services in Southwest Michigan
Palliative care by Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan goes beyond just medical needs. We offer a holistic approach aimed at enhancing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of individuals facing chronic conditions. Our compassionate caregivers create a sanctuary of comfort and relief, improving not only the life of your loved one but also providing peace of mind to your family.
Our Unique Approach to Palliative Care
Unlike treatment plans focused solely on treating individuals with chronic conditions, palliative care prioritizes the emotional, physical, and psychological well-being of the patient.
Although Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan does not provide medical services, our caregivers will work with your loved one’s healthcare team at home or in an assisted living facility or nursing home. Our home care services can be offered alongside curative treatments and are designed to improve the quality of life for both the patient and their family.
What Sets Our Palliative Care Apart
Many people confuse palliative care with end-of-life care. While both are essential, they serve different roles. Palliative care can be introduced at any stage of a chronic illness, not just the last days, working in tandem with other treatments.
Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan is proud to offer a non-medical certification in palliative care to our caregivers through our Palliative Care Certification Program. The focus of this program is to educate our caregivers so they will understand how to deliver compassionate care in a way that helps address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of chronically ill individuals; the overall goal of this care is to positively impact their quality of life.
Components of Our Certified Palliative Care Program
- Physical Comfort: Providing personal comfort to help with the relief of physical discomfort which can help alleviate symptoms of pain.
- Emotional Support: Provide support to help overcome complex emotions including anxiety, depression, and anger to instill positivity and a sense of wellness and purpose.
- Social Support: To provide companionship and meaningful conversations by developing close relationships which can help to relieve feelings of loneliness and isolation.
- Spiritual Support: Boost the overall sense of inner peace and purpose while helping families find peace of mind during a challenging time.
