Visiting Angels Southwest Michigan Honored as 2024 Chamber Mid-to-Large Business of the Year

Seven years ago, we started with a simple belief—everyone deserves to age with dignity at home, surrounded by care and compassion.

At Visiting Angels® Southwest Michigan we strive to make a difference—not just in the lives of our clients but in the fabric of our community. This year, we’re humbled and honored to be recognized as the 2024 Mid-to-Large Business of the Year by the Southwest Michigan First Chamber. This award celebrates the heart, dedication, and values that have defined our organization since its founding.

A Commitment to Community

For Denny Stults and Ellen Kluck, building Visiting Angels Southwest Michigan was more than just starting a business—it was a chance to give back to the place they were born, raised, and worked.

This philosophy has been woven into every aspect of their work, from the compassionate care provided to seniors to partnerships with local organizations that enhance the quality of life for families across Allegan, Kalamazoo, Mattawan, Paw Paw, PlainwellPortage and surrounding Southwest Michigan areas.

We’re bringing value to ourselves, our clients, and our community—Ellen Kluck

From helping seniors with daily tasks to providing companionship that brightens their day, our team makes independence possible. And as we continue to serve Kalamazoo and Southwest Michigan communities, we remain committed to the same values that got us here: integrity, compassion, and bringing value to the people who need us most.

A Family Legacy of Care

For Denny, the idea of Visiting Angels is rooted in a childhood memory—visiting a local nursing home with his church and forming unexpected friendships with the seniors there. Those moments stuck with him. So when he retired from a long and fulfilling career at Kellogg, he found himself drawn to the mission of Visiting Angels.

But he knew he didn't want to do it alone. His daughter, Ellen, shared the same passion for community and caregiving. Together, they have turned a heartfelt mission into a thriving, family-run business. What started as a small partnership has now grown in to a team of over 100 dedicated professionals.

At Visiting Angels, we are all united by the same belief that every senior deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and warmth.

Starting this journey with my daughter has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Seeing Ellen grow into a confident business owner has been an incredible experience—and I couldn't imagine sharing this accomplishment with anyone else—Denny Stults
