Dementia Care in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk
Dementia Care by Trained Caregivers
At Visiting Angels, we understand how overwhelming it can be to care for a loved one with dementia. We want to alleviate your stress while enriching the lives of your loved one and your family by offering non-medical dementia care services by trained professional caregivers. Our caregivers are trained to understand how disorienting dementia can be. They have the patience needed to answer repetitive questions, know when to use distraction and redirection and how to encourage behaviors and activities that seniors with dementia may resist. Each caregiver also undergoes a comprehensive background, criminal and employment check. They must demonstrate invaluable characteristics such as honesty, empathy, patience, humor, and respect as a natural part of their character.
They must be someone we would put with our Mom or Dad.
Dementia Care Services Keep Your Loved One at Home
Most seniors want to continue living at home for as long as possible. For seniors with dementia, this desire is even stronger. A move to assisted living is stressful at the best of times, but for a senior coping with dementia it can be devastating. Staying at home in familiar surroundings helps those with dementia retain confidence and peace of mind.
When you choose our at-home dementia care services, we come to your loved one's home to meet with you both and to discuss any concerns you have. The information we gather will be used to create a person-centered dementia care plan. At Visiting Angels, our dementia care services often include assistance with:
- Emotional Care, Social Care, and Quality of Life.
- Help with bathing, grooming, and dressing (including bed-baths)
- Feeding, monitoring and encouraging fluids.
- Safety in the home -- ensuring Mom or Dad's decisions are safe.
- Incontinence care, including changing, toileting, cleaning and skin health.
- Fall prevention and walking assistance.
- Ambulation and transferring.
- Medication reminders
- Exercise support.
- Meal preparation assistance.
- Light Housekeeping.
- Help with errands and shopping.
- Companionship.
- Much more!
Regardless of the type of assistance your loved one needs, we'll help you and your loved one establish regular routines. Having a daily routine is a source of comfort for those with dementia.

Transparency in all We Do
We put a high value on transparency. This is your family.
Our caregivers provide notes and updates on the day's events. They are trained to watch for -- and communicate any concerns about your loved one's care -- and to continue advocating until the issue is addressed.
You also have 24-hour access to the Executive Director -- for any reason.
And you have a right to know costs up front. We charge $34.00 per hour. There are no additional surcharges if the care is more complex than we anticipated -- or becomes more complex as time goes on. There are no additional surcharges for weekends or evenings. And most importantly -- we do not require deposits to be held until the end of care.
Our dementia care services can be life changing for families. They allow your loved one to maintain their daily routines and to continue living safely in the familiar surroundings and comfort of their home. Call us today for a no-cost, no-obligation dementia care consultation.
