At Visiting Angels we provide personalized Alzheimer's care to help seniors maintain their independence at home and preserve their quality of life as the disease progresses. With our help, your loved one can remain safely and comfortably in their current environment, whether that be in their home or an assisted living or other senior living facility. We are also able to help provide temporary care while waiting for an opening in memory care.
Our trained, professional caregivers provide assistance with daily living tasks, allowing your senior to thrive in their familiar surroundings, while also providing family caregivers a much deserved break from caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's.

Understanding Alzheimer's Disease
What is the Difference Between Dementia and Alzheimer's?
Dementia is an over-arching term for a range of cognitive impairment that affects memory, thinking, and social abilities that interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of cases. While all Alzheimer's cases are dementia, not all dementias are Alzheimer's. Other common types of dementia include vascular dementia, frontotemporal dementia, and Lewy body dementia.
Are There Different Options for Alzheimer's Care?
As Alzheimer's progresses, care needs will change. Some of the most common options for Alzheimer's care include:
- In-Home Care – Trained caregivers help with daily living activities, which allows individuals to remain in their own home.
- Adult Day Centers – Social interaction and structured activities are provided for seniors throughout the day.
- Senior Care Facilities – These communities can provide supervision and medical assistance for advanced stages of Alzheimer's.
Deciding on the right care will depend on your loved one's stage of Alzheimer's, personal preferences, and family considerations.

In addition, we have several team members trained in Teepa Snow's Positive Approach to Care, that provides person-centered skills for caregivers to appropriately and compassionately respond to the unique needs of those living with Alzheimer's.
