Home Care in Elkhart Lake, WI

It’s not uncommon for seniors to experience difficulties in everyday tasks as they get older. Still, these daily challenges don’t mean they can’t continue to live independently. As a locally owned and operated home care agency, Visiting Angels dedicates its work to helping Elkhart Lake seniors age in place safely.

At-home care services with Visiting Angels

Every senior's needs are different. That’s why we offer various home care options for our clients. Each home care service is customizable and can be changed at any time to meet the needs of our clients.

  • Companion care: Clients who need basic at-home assistance with household chores or transportation to run errands may be the best fit for companion care. Caregivers providing this type of care help with medication reminders, cooking, light housekeeping, transportation, and essential companionship needs.
  • Personal care: Clients who need more hands-on assistance can request personal care. This care service includes the same services as companion care but with the addition of hands-on assistance with mobility, grooming, dressing, showering, and toileting.
  • Respite care: Clients with family caregivers may need respite care, a temporary care service to relieve family caregivers so they can recharge and avoid burnout.
  • Palliative care: Clients with chronic illnesses who need assistance at home can receive palliative care. Caregivers providing palliative focus on easing physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional discomfort.
  • Ready-Set-Go Home care: Clients returning home after a hospital stay may benefit from our transitional care. Ready-Set-Go Home care helps reduce hospital readmission risk by ensuring clients receive proper follow-up care.
  • Dementia and Alzheimer’s care: Clients who have dementia can receive dementia care services to help them stay safe at home. Dementia care includes personal care services plus wandering prevention.
  • Social care: Clients who need help staying connected to family and friends can benefit from social care. Caregivers help clients navigate basic technology like texting, emailing, and social media.
  • End-of-Life care: Clients entering their final stages may find comfort in End-of-Life care services. These services are similar to palliative care, but caregivers may work alongside a hospice team to help clients ease into their final stages of life.

Living in Elkhart Lake

Elkhart Lake is a beautiful village in Wisconsin within the town of Rhine. The village is named its main attraction, the blue-green water of Elkhart Lake. It’s a village full of nature, hidden gems, and local attractions, making it a perfect place for seniors to explore.

Visiting The Lake

Elkhart Lake is the fourth deepest lake in Wisconsin, known for its sandy bottom, natural springs, and turquoise shine on a sunny day. If you’re a longtime resident, this lake offers endless activities, such as pontoon cruises and watersports, but it’s also a nice place to relax and soak in the scenery. Many of our caregivers enjoy accompanying clients to relax at the lake. It’s an easy way to get out of the house, encourage physical activity, and enjoy socializing.

Kohl Community Fitness Center

Physical activity is essential to everyone’s health, but it’s especially important for seniors to maintain mobility and strength. There are many ways to incorporate physical activities into your daily routine, whether it’s walking around the neighborhood or trying an online fitness class. One of the advantages for seniors living in Elkhart Lake is the Kohl Community Fitness Center which is free to use for district residents.

You will need to schedule an orientation before your first visit, which a Visiting Angels caregiver can help you set up. Caregivers can also provide transportation to the fitness center and can accompany you while you workout.

Library

The Elkhart Lake Public Library is a wonderful resource for community members, and caregivers are happy to accompany their clients to their local library. Most people know libraries are filled with books, music, and movies for rent, but the Elkhart Library also has computers and wifi for residents to use, with printers and photocopy machines.

In addition to resources, the library also hosts tons of events and adult programming. There is a monthly book club, author talks, ukulele club, crafting circle, and genealogy interest group. You can view the library calendar online for any upcoming events.

Community Events

Getting involved in your community is an excellent way to reduce loneliness and social isolation, something that plagues nearly one-third of older adults. The Elkhart Lake community calendar lists all upcoming events, including meetings and local observations. If you need transportation or companionship to any community event, Visiting Angels caregivers are happy to assist you.
